As Head Teacher, I am extremely proud to welcome you to Biddick Academy – “a safe place where we all promote and enjoy the highest individual achievement through friendship, excellence and respect.”
I became a teacher to make a difference, and believe that school years are amongst the most important in our lives. I am proud to lead a team of exceptional staff who develop personal relationships with students and are committed to providing opportunities to fulfill everyone’s potential. For this reason the Academy has a warm, energetic and supportive environment.
Our aim is to be the best we can be, with our young people experiencing the highest quality of education. We are passionate and determined that within their education every student achieves, enjoys their learning, is happy and cared for, and develops as a well-rounded individual. At Biddick Academy we are preparing students not just to pass examinations; there is much more to it than that: We are preparing them for life.
Thank you for your interest in the work we love and believe in. The best way to experience the very special atmosphere at Biddick is by making a visit. Every day is an Open Day and we welcome all parental and community visitors. Contact me, and I will respond at the earliest opportunity.
Biddick is a popular and oversubscribed Academy, mainly serving the south of Washington, with around 1100 students on roll. We make a commitment to staffing and as a result we have one of the lowest teacher pupil ratios in the area.
Most of our students have English as a first language; the number of pupils with learning disabilities and the proportion entitled to free school meals are below average.
Ofsted judged us to be a good school with some outstanding qualities and parents were ‘overwhelmingly positive about the education and care that their children receive’.
