Student Leadership at Biddick Academy

On Friday 7th May, we were delighted to welcome Member of the Trustee Board, Les Todd and his wife Gaynor Todd to Biddick Academy to officially unveil our brand new Head Boy and Head Girl honour boards, kindly donated to the Academy by Rocket Medical.

Mr and Mrs Todd have always supported the ethos and been actively involved in the life of Biddick Academy with their own sons James, Jordan and Jack all attending and studying at our school over a period of nearly two decades. Their youngest son Jack was successfully appointed as Biddick Academy’s first ever Head Boy alongside Head Girl Caitlin Fletcher in 2017 – an achievement of which Mr Todd, Mrs Todd and Jack himself were incredibly proud.

The student leadership programme at the Academy develops and improves leadership skills for all of our students. Opportunities range from participating in the Student Council, acting as a Year 7 Transition Mentor, to Senior Prefects – a crowning achievement to which all of our students aspire.

As part of the honour board unveiling, Mr and Mrs Todd met with Miss Morris, Mr Knowles, who is responsible for Student Leadership across the Academy, and Mr Dodds, who explained the role and impact of the democratically elected Student Council. They also had the opportunity to meet our incumbent Head Boy, Bilal Longstaffe-Nourthi and Head Girl, Bethan Gallon who spoke eloquently about their experiences at our school and their ambitious plans for the future. Mr and Mrs Todd congratulated them on their achievement and were impressed by their lofty aspirations.

We would like to express our thanks to Mr and Mrs Todd and Rocket Medical for your incredibly generous donation – we look forward to welcoming you and your family back to Biddick Academy soon.
