In 1997, Biddick was one of the first eleven schools in England to become a Specialist Sports College. The work that has taken place since 1997 has been embedded into the Academy and offers unique opportunities for all students to develop a set of values that are vitally important to learning and life. These include, leadership, tolerance, co-operation, aspirations, responsibility and sportsmanship.
We want our students to have the highest aspirations and to achieve extraordinary things and provide a platform for celebrating excellence.

Biddick is a popular and oversubscribed Academy, mainly serving the south of Washington, with around 1100 students on roll. We make a commitment to staffing and as a result we have one of the lowest teacher pupil ratios in the area.
Most of our students have English as a first language; the number of pupils with learning disabilities and the proportion entitled to free school meals are below average.
